Board profile
Centre Babe Botana is a transport and trade facilitation expert. He holds a BA in Economics and Accountancy from the University of Botswana and a Master of Arts in Development Economics from the Center of Development Economics of Williams College in the United States.
He brings over 37 years of experience, with expertise in project planning and investment appraisal as an economist, mainstream railways operations at senior management levels, and directorship experience from operating as a Chief Executive Officer in both parastatal and private-sector railway environments.
Mr Botana has worked as Chief Executive Officer of Botswana Railways and General Manager of Railway Systems of Zambia. He is also a founding father of the Southern African Railways Association (SARA), where he later served as President of the Board.
He has provided independent consultancy services in the transport and trade facilitation sector, including assignments for USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub and Trade Mark Southern Africa under the Tripartite of COMESA, SADC and ECA.
